Undetected faults caused by lack of proper and thorough servicing is a major cause of breakdowns and accidents involving trailers. Faulty lights, worn brakes and damaged tyres being some of the more common problems.

As with all Ifor Williams trailers, the frequency and manor to which the trailer is used may determine how often a service is advised , but 12 months is a great starting point, same as you would with your car. It is important to remember that trailers are road going vehicles and regular servicing will ensure that your trailer is always road safe.

General frequency and advise for maintenance.

  • Before each journey - particular checks are necessary for safety reasons and is the responsibility of the trailer operator.

  • Every 3000 miles (5000 km) - for industrial / commercial trailers with intensive usage, by type of application or mileage towed, including boat trailers that have been immersed in water.

  • Every 6000 miles (10,000 km) - for leisure trailers and caravans - service annually.
